About us

The Virtual Observatory for Technology Transfer (OVTT) is a on-line platform of information and tools on technology transfer and innovation for business and research created by the University of Alicante, throughout the Office for Research, Development and Innovation, and sponsored by the Santander Group.
We work to facilitate and to make available free online tools to explorer, systematize and implement strategic information on Technology Transfer and Competitive Intelligence for our users, with special emphasis on relations between Europe and Latin America.
The website is available in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
Objectives

- Being a reference on information concerning Technology Transfer and Competitive Intelligence, offering personalized and specialized information to our users.
- Strengthen links between universities, businesses and society, bringing the research capacity and technology of universities to innovation and to businesses needs.
- Stimulate entrepreneurship and innovation culture within the university environment, with emphasis on the creation of technology-based companies (TBC/ Spin-off).
- Improving knowledge transfer capacity of the University to the productive system through the enhancement of relationships: to know the advantages and opportunities of the public-private collaboration, cooperation, the creation of synergies and the implementation of new forms of corporate management.
- Promoting scientific culture and interest for new technologies in the Society.
- To promote relations and exchange of ideas among Latin American countries.
What we do

OBSERVA: Specialised Search Engine
OBSERVA is the intelligent search engine of OVTT. It is a meta search engine which access to information on subjects related to technology transfer and innovation in Latin America. You can search specialized and classified information by several criteria such as keywords, industrial sectors and countries, among others, from reference sources from Latin American R&D.
OBSERVA is performed by the Group of Language Processing and Information Systems(GPLSI) at the University of Alicante (UA). Semantic techniques are used and the latest Human Language Technology (THL) to provide solutions to the business environment and address the problem of collateral management and processing of large volumes of information and documentation from the web. In addition, OBSERVA employs customization features and automation techniques to adjust to the user preferences. Allows the system to learn and constantly improve as users' needs and increase the applicability of the tool and its portability to other environments and needs.
ALERTS: Technology Watch
Alerts are a monitoring system for the user to be informed of technological developments and technological advances in business and industry. You could register and receive updated information selected according to your preferences and interests, through the website or by email. Join the OVTT.
This alert system is linked to OBSERVA and focuses on the extraction of information in business environments. Using techniques of recognition and extraction of relevant data the system lets you automate processes to structure and organize information of interest.

Networking with other agents and consolidated projects in R&D, joining forces and pooling targets for more efficient responses to companies and researchers:

Over the years, the University of Alicante has been hosting a unique compendium of knowledge in fundraising, intellectual property and project management which now merges in ‘TransKnowlia’, the inspiring initiative of Transnational Knowledge Management at the University of Alicante.
TransKnowlia gathers the wide expertise of a team made up of 14 international project managers from 11 countries, who have been working in projects in more than 80 countries around the globe, and are ready to help you with your transnational initiatives. We offer highly-qualified trainings, a multilingual analysis and in-depth study service, consultancy and good-practice guidelines development in different areas and subject matters.

The Enterprise Europe Network helps small business to make the most of the European marketplace. Working through local business organisations The SEIMED is the Spanish Mediterranean link to the Enterprise European Network. Its aim is to give advice to SMEs about business cooperation and internationalization, technology transfer and support for participation in European R&D.

International Legal Website of University of Alicante on Intellectual Property, Information Society and Private International Law. It is aimed to researchers, students and professionals, where you'll find documents, links and events worldwide.

PILA is a learning project to exchange intellectual property (IP) management practices in the Higher Education Institutions of Latin America.

It is an initiative driven by the bio-incubator of the Science Park of the University of Barcelona and UNINOVA, the business incubator at the University of Santiago de Compostela, with the support of Santander Universities. It aims to promote entrepreneurial culture and facilitating the transfer of research results to society.
