International Symposium Fisheries and Innovation
On October 22nd, the International Symposium “Innovation and Competitiveness in Aquaculture and Fisheries” is held in Lima (Peru) with the slogan “Peru, acualimentos del futuro”. This event seeks to put on the agenda the strategic role that innovation has in order to achieve competitive fishing and aquaculture with a sustainable and future look for Peru and the world.

On October 22nd, the International Symposium “Innovation and Competitiveness in Aquaculture and Fisheries” is held in Lima (Peru) with the slogan “Peru, acualimentos del futuro”. This event seeks to put on the agenda the strategic role that innovation has in order to achieve competitive fishing and aquaculture with a sustainable and future look for Peru and the world.

The symposium will show, in the five fundamental pillars of the National Program of Innovation in fisheries and aquaculture (PNIPA), the experience of other countries, through leading invited experts, whose presentations will be commented by leaders of the country’s fisheries and aquaculture.

In relation to the program, the inaugural session will be in charge of Adolfo Alvial de Chile, Director of the Aquaculture Innovation Club and prominent actor in the aquaculture development of that country. Renowned experts such as Mark James, from the University of St Andrews, Scotland will also participate; Martin Hevia, from Fundación Chile; Stefanía Vannuccini of FAO in Italy; Neil Ridler of the University of New Brunswick, Canada and John Birger Stav, coordinator of the Blue Edu Project in Norway. In closing, the executive director of PNIPA, Javier Ramírez – Gastón, will refer to the early fruits and projections of PNIPA in the six macro-regional headquarters where the Program operates.
